It can be hard to pinpoint exactly what causes your skin to be sensitive. Sensitive skin can be a problem and a time consuming battle for some people. Your skin may become red or irritated with some products. And you can’t always figure out what product or what’s in the product you’re using that causes your skin to be sensitive. Sometimes you’re just guessing where the problem is coming from.

Here are some great products and tips that help with sensitive skin. No more guessing!

What is Sensitive Skin?

Sensitive skin is a skin condition that affects all different types of skin whether it’s dry, oily or a combination of both.

Certain skin care products or household products like fabric softeners, laundry detergent, or other cleaners can cause sensitive skin. If your skin is sensitive and comes into contact with skin care products or household products that aggravate the situation, your skin will easily burn, sting, turn red, be tight and dry or become bumpy.

Sensitive skin can also come from certain skin conditions like eczema, atopic dermatitis or rosacea.

Another way that skin can become sensitive is if it gets damaged from a very cold or a very hot environment.

Exfoliating your skin is very beneficial, but you should probably test out your products first. If you exfoliate too often or your products are too strong, this will eventually damage the top layer of skin that protects what’s underneath. When it’s damaged your skin will be sensitive until you restore and renew your skin back to having a healthy top layer again.

Use Micellar Water

Micellar water can be used to cleanse your skin when you want to stay away from harsh cleansers that hurt sensitive skin. Micellar water is made up of oil molecules that act as a magnet to lift dirt, oil and makeup away from your skin. All the impurities are lifted out and it doesn’t dry out your skin.

Just use a cotton pad and wipe your face whenever you want to feel clean again. Micellar water doesn’t need to be rinsed so you can carry it with you all day to freshen up your face.

Try this gentle cleanser that is another option for cleansing your skin. It won’t dry out your sking and it improves luminosity and evens skin tone as well. This cleanser will deep clean your pores and help treat and prevent acne.

Another cleanser you can try is this cleansing gel that’s excellent for sensitive skin. It is formulated to replenish moisture and nourish your skin while removing impurities. It also helps reduce redness and irritation.

Use Moisturizer

Even with sensitive skin, don’t skip this important step. Use a good moisturizer daily. This HD Restore Glowing Skin Serum is a protective and antioxidant replenishing serum. It helps to protect your skin from environmental aging. You can apply this serum twice a day on your face and neck and then apply moisturizer after the serum has soaked in. It reduces visible signs of aging and helps rejuvenate your skin’s texture. It’s excellent for red and overly dry acneic skin.

After using your serum, apply the HD Multi-Complex Creme which is a firming and brightening moisturizer. It has antioxidants to prevent visible aging changes. Peptides and brighteners visibly improve the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and age spots. The advanced peptides also firm and hydrate your skin. You can apply this over the serum twice daily as well.

These two products won’t damage your skin and will help with sensitive skin.

Don’t Skip Sunscreen

Apply sunscreen everyday. Even on cloudy days. The sun’s rays still come through the clouds and will dry out your skin. Use HD Defend Chemical Free with an SPF of 30+ to help prevent damage from the sun. This is a chemical-free tinted moisturizer with antioxidants. It also has anti-wrinkle peptides to help firm your skin. It can also be used as a makeup primer or lightweight foundation. It’s excellent for all skin types including sensitive skin.
Apply evenly 15 minutes before going outside and reapply at least every 2 hours.

Avoid Fragrance

The fragrance is the number one irritant for your skin. Avoid using household and skincare products that contain fragrances.

If you have sensitive skin you may find it hard to find products that will soothe and hydrate your skin instead of making it red and itchy. A good practice is to test a product behind your ear and see if you get a reaction. But mostly, avoid anything with any type of fragrance.

Shower in Lukewarm Water

Having a hot shower can feel great, but the hot water can further aggravate your sensitive skin. Hot water will strip your skin of essential oils, leaving it even drier.

Instead, shower with lukewarm water and help your skin retain its natural oils.

If you have sensitive skin, start a new skincare regime using gentle and fragrance-free products like the ones suggested above. It could be that over the years of using harsh cleansers or other products with perfume or other fragrances may have caused you to have sensitive skin. Once you figure out what’s irritating your skin, caring for your sensitive skin can then become easy. Using the right products and avoiding irritants can help you keep your skin healthy.
